Not Even Close

Over the course of this dynasty, the Purdue Boilermakers football team has been the little kid of the Big Ten. Over the last 1 and a half seasons, the Boilermakers have 2 victories, one against their rival Indiana Hoosiers, and another against a D1-AA opponent in the beginning of the 2010 football season.

Jamaal Richardson was performing above the standard of recent Northwestern Quarterback's under Andrew Taylor, throwing 11 Touchdowns and 13 interceptions, and stepping up when the running game behind Stephen Simmons and Erik Humphrey is ineffective.

Richardson elevated his level of play this last week, even though it wasn't necessary to the Wildcats victory. Richardson completed only 10 passes, 4 of them were into the endzone, one to each Charles Brown, Isaac Floyd, Theo Hall, and Sidney Stewart. Richardson threw for 221 yards in 3 quarters before he and the rest of the first-stringers were pulled for the 4th quarter. Dan Persa threw for 30 yards on 2 completions, with no touchdowns during the 4th.

The Wildcats defense played lights-out also, having 2 Touchdowns of their own. Jordan Mabin returned a interception 102 yards for a touchdown at the end of the 3rd, and Paul Marshall returned a fumble 28 yards in the 2nd.

The Wildcats play another lowly opponent in the Indiana Hoosiers next week, before their showdown with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
