2010 Week 5

The Michigan State Spartans are one of those annoying teams. No matter how good you are or how bad they are, they always seem to give you a very close and competitive game. The 2010 version of the Northwestern-Michigan St. matchup was no different.

Quarterback Jamaal Richardson, who after his 5-INT debacle against Boise St. in the season opener, has played reasonably well, only throwing 2 Interceptions to 6 Touchdowns against West Virginia and Auburn. Stephen Simmons has been inconsistent all year, and while Erik Humphrey has been a viable backup to Simmons, the Wildcats need more production from their #1 runner.

The majority of the scoring came on the ground for the Wildcats and through the air - both passing and kicking - for the Spartans. Quarterback Kirk Cousins had 2 touchdowns for the Spartans, while Anthony Evans had 4 field goals. Simmons, Humphrey, and Richardson each had rushing Touchdowns, from 1, 6, and 8 yards respectively.

Eric Ivey had 12 more tackles, and Brad Phillips, who gained Impact Status following the game, had 11 tackles and another interception to add to his record-setting career total.

Stefan Demos converted 2/2 Field Goals, from 34 and 47 yards, and Steven Anderson had 64 net yards on a total 68 yards of punts.
