All Quiet in Week 1

Weekly Report Posted: May 18, 2024 21:02

No news has been reported this week.

What Ha...Ha...Happened?

In 2009, the Wildcats were dependent on their defense causing turnovers and creating points for their offense to win games. Led by Brad Phillips' 13 Interceptions and Sherrick McManus' 3 Pick-Six's, the Wildcats found their way to a 9-3 season with a Bowl Victory over the Auburn Tigers.

This year is much different.

In their season-opener against the Broncos of Boise St., Redshirt-Senior Jamaal Richardson was given the start over Redshirt-Junior Dan Persa and Redshirt-Senior Joe Mauro. Coach Taylor may have to re-think his Quarterback situation.

Richardson threw 1 Touchdown to 5 interceptions Saturday against the Broncos. Taylor finally pulled him for Persa, who threw an interception of his own on his first pass.

Still, despite all the turnovers, the Wildcats were in the football game until the end, when they failed to convert a 4th down late in the fourth quarter.

Redshirt-Sophomore Isaac Floyd had 116 receiving yards on 6 receptions. Stephen Simmons had only 57 yards on 21 carries. Theo Hall returned his first ever, and the first ever in this dynasty, kickoff return for a Touchdown.
