Demos Misses Overtime Field Goal, Wildcats Lose
Well, a freshman was bound to crumble under the pressure eventually.
Coach Taylor just didn't expect it after his freshman kicker started off 13/13 on Field Goal Opportunities.
After Northwestern and Iowa were tied 10-10 at the half, the Wildcats came out and scored 2 straight touchdowns to almost put the game out of reach.
But, showing from the Eastern Michigan game, no Wildcat lead is safe.
The Hawkeyes scored 2 touchdowns in the final 2:19 of the game to force overtime.
The teams traded Touchdown's in the first overtime, and in the second, Stefan Demos, the Wildcat freshman kicker, missed a 27 yard field goal from the right hash. Iowa then advanced inside the Wildcat 5 yard line, and Austin Signor knocked in a chip shot 20 yard field goal to end the marathon of a game.
"You win some, you lose some. Unfortunately, this year we've lost more than we won. We've got 2 games left, and we need wins in both to be .500 and to be bowl eligible," said a dejected Coach Taylor after the loss.
Brian Peterman, who had 8 tackles, 2 INT's, and 2 pass deflections, was named player of the game.
