Wildcats Gives Buckeyes a Scare, but Bucks win by 19
Coach Taylor was actually feeling pretty good after halftime, when his Wildcats were up 13-10 on the Buckeyes of Ohio St.
And he had good reason to. Although the Wildcats hadn't accumulated much offense, they were still hanging with a top-15 team in the nation; One that reached the National Championship last year.
Oh, how special teams can change all that.
Northwestern started the second half with possession and CJ Bacher, who had an outstanding 20 carries on the day, was able to convert a 3rd and goal with a 6 yard TD run. The snap for the extra point would be off the mark, and everything would go downhill from there.
The Buckeyes would score 28 consecutive points, 14 on passes from Josh Boeckman, and another 14 on runs by Chris Wells.
"After that missed extra-point, we couldn't execute anymore on either side of the ball. I'll always wonder what the game would have been like if we had made that extra point. We might have had a chance to take down one of the elite teams in the country."
Adam Kadela, who had 9 tackles and 1 forced fumble, was named Northwestern's Player of the Game.
