Spiders a Good Sight Better'n Rams
Five linebackers dominated the Colorado State offense today, exerting a smothering force of will that resulted in 28 combined tackles, 5 for loss, and 4 interceptions between them. True freshman Keith Mudge (7 tackles) had a great game from his backup role as the Spiders found that their 4-4 cover 3 zone was disrupting the opposing quarterbacks reads. Tholio Nokkums had 7 tackles also, 3 for a loss. Willie Kidd made it a triumvirate with 7 tackles, 2 for loss, and one interception returned 43 yards for the defensive score. Richmond overmatched this Colorado State team this year.
Drew Timmons got some time in the second half and had a 7-for-7 game with 2 touchdowns. Buck Roberts opened the game early on with a short toss to Matt Harvey that the big tight end turned into a 73 yard play by breaking a few tackles. Harvey has the best (82) carry rating on the team.
