A much-anticipated showdown turned into a rout after halftime as Michigan simply wore away the Richmond squad. An overpowering 28-30 mile an hour crosswind affected many of the night's kicks, and 5 point after tries and 3 field goals were missed.

The only real bright spot for Richmond was the play of freshman outside linebacker Marcellus Jordan, who was playing hard all game. Jordan had an interception to set up a field goal in the first half.
