Jackson goes down, Done for the season

It was a sad day on Saturday. Sure the Utah State Aggies won with a 10 point 4th quarter comeback to improve their record to 2-1 on the season, but Senior QB Leon Jackson is done for the season. Jackson a captain and impact player broke his collar bone late in the first quarter. Before getting injured he was 3 for 3 with 76 yards.

Utah State took an early 7-0 lead on a Chris Forbes TD run. San Jose State answered right back with a 47 yard TD pass. McCormick filling in for Jackson threw a 63 yard bomb to take a 14-7 lead but SJSU would lead a halftime 17-14.

At the state of the 3rd quarter McCormick lead USU on a drive that ended with a Ulinski FG from 49 yard to tie it a 17. SJSU would add 2 more FG's to take a 23-17 lead into the 4th quarter.

USU would prove to strong in the 4th as they scored a TD on another Forbes scamper and added a late FG to ice the game.

Coach McGriffle had this to say about the loss of Jackson, "Jackson was a great leader and motivator of our offense. But we can't sit back and pout about it. These things happen in football. We feel confindent the McCormick can step up and fill the roll for our team. Sure he isn't the speedster that Jackson was, but he will come along just fine." Coach McGriffle's statements come after McCormick lead the Aggies on 2 4th quarter drives to win the game. Only time will tell how McCormick will lead the Aggies. As the enter the heart of their WAC schedule in a few weeks, we will have to see how the situation plays itself out.
