All Quiet in Week 7

No news has been reported this week.

A leader has risen

Earlier this week during Deacon practice something remarkable took place. Senior quarterback Ben Mauk walked off the field at practice. Mauk was heard as saying, "This team is ridiculous, do you even want it anymore?! Hell, Idlitte over here dropped 5 passes last week, 2 of which were td's. We looked like Scripture Hall 4 East in their last intramural flag football game at IWU. Come on fellas, get it together, screw this."

Reality check. Coach Casey's reaction to this was simple. "Well, I sat back with Jude [DeLoye] our offensive coordinator and determined that this kid made a real royal ass out of himself, but we thought it was necessary. We were anxious to see how the rest of the team would react to something like. They had a meeting, they got pissed, and they were determined to beat NC State. The goal right now is to win 7 games or more this year and get all 3 of our in season recruits. Let's make it a positive year for our seniors," Casey said.

So on Saturday morning prior to the game, Casey took Mauk to the side and told him that they'd literally be throwing the ball 95% of the time in this game for as long as it took. He was putting the ball and essentially the game, in Ben's hands. And did he ever deliver.

4 td's in the first half allowed DeLoye and Casey to implement their classic play calling in the 2nd half after 1st half domination. "Yeah, these are my favourite situations, when me and the staff can just sit back and drink a brewskie, maybe call Eri... I mean my wife during the game, see how things are going, and just have the offense take a knee and not really give a crap about the defense."

Out of Mauk's 11 completions in just one half of football for 4 td's and 294 yards, not a single ball was thrown to Idlette. "Will and I are done in our relationship together. Coach can put him on the field, but I refuse to throw the ball in his direction. Delon [Lowe] made some great leaping catches today, and we have one of the best tight end tandoms in the nation. Eff Will," said Mauk.

When asked about how the game went mentally Casey reponded with saying "Pretty relaxed, except when I shit myself after K #38's 57 yard field goal, I literally had to change my underwear as the boys played cornhole at halftime."

Next week's game is against lowly North Carolina who is 0-4 in the ACC this year, Wake should win as the game is on the road and not at home.
