Wyoming Manhandles UTEP

For the second straight game, the Cowboys defense pitched a shutout defeating the Miners of UTEP 37-0.

Led by the defensive line which totaled 12 tackles for loss, the miners were only able to rush for 30 yards on the day. Having to pass most of the game, they mustered 190 yards through the air and threw 3 interceptions.

Offensively, the Cowboys were led by QB Antonio Rossner who had a fine day passing the ball. Rossner racked up over 300 yards passing and two touchdowns and added another 24 and one score on the ground in his first start and only his second collegiate game. Travis Burkhalter, a pre-season All-Big XII pick, had 113 yards receiving and a score. The offense overcame six drops by the receiving corps, a number that must go down if the Cowboys are to compete in the Big XII.

Pre-season All-American K Aric Goodman connected on 3 field goals to make him a perfect 4-4 on the year. Walk-on freshman Jeff Singleton is doing an excellent job at the punter position averaging just over 43 yards per punt this season.

Up next for the Pokes is hated rival Brigham Young. The Cougars will be traveling to Laramie in their annual rivalry game.
