2010 Week 7

In a game being billed as the biggest game in Pokes history, it didn't take long to see that the Cowboys got the memo. After a 15 yard run by Darius Terry to get things started, Antonio Rossner found big Ronald Holden sprinting down the sidelines and they connected for a 52 yard bomb to give Wyoming an early 7-0 lead.

After the first score, it became a running show for the Cowboys. Wyoming accounted for 239 yards on the ground and 6 touchdowns en route to a 52-7 victory over the #1 Texas Longhorns.

"We just came out and flat out manhandled them." said Deon Williams, a 6'7 freshman tackle. "It was like they were expecting us to roll over and give them the game, but we came out and hit them in the mouth on the first play and they didn't have an answer for it."

SR HB Darius Terry had 167 yards and 3 TD on the ground. FB Jake McMahan added 52 yards and 3 more touchdowns, all in the 4th quarter. Burkhalter and Holden led the way through the air accounting for 96 and 79 yards respectively.

The defense held the 4th ranked offense in the country coming into the game to only 161 total offensive yards.

"That's why we're the best defense in the nation." said LB Tom Merriman who had three more interceptions on the day and a QB sack. DT Jack Hester held the defensive line and added 2 sacks of his own, and the defense accounted for 5 turnovers to help seal the victory.

With the win, Wyoming is sure to jump in next week's polls.
