Lackluster Performance Gets It Done for Tide

Heading into the 2037 offseason, I decided to be stricter on my recruiting. I have decided to not have Florida as a pipeline state and I will let it dwindle until it becomes such. Afterwards, I will treat it like Tennessee in that I can recruit 3 star and lower players from there, but I cannot make it a pipeline state. That means my new recruiting restrictions are the following:

Can recruit any player from the state of Alabama.
Can recruit any player 3 star or lower from Mississippi.
Can recruit any player 3 star or lower from Tennessee and Florida, but I cannot make them a pipeline state.
Can recruit any player 2 star or lower from Georgia.
Cannot set training budget higher than 50%.
Cannot set discipline budget any lower than 20%.

Also, I must add 5% to CPU's offense and defense in Championship and Bowl games.

Coming into the 2038 season, this team is nowhere near as good as last year's squad. We lost our top 3 WRs in Joe Tyler, Lance Carter, and Ian Edmonds. The last two turned pro. Heisman winner HB Nick Brown is back with 99 SPD and he's backed up by HB Jonas Barnes, brother of Andre Barnes. Our offensive line looks very solid 97-95-99-99-99 from L-R OVR. CB Matt Smith graduated, but FR(RS) CB Marco Herring will step in to return punts and kickoffs. I think he will be the next great returner at Alabama. FR(RS) ROLB Pete Coley steps in at ROLB for the departed Jermaine Gay. I'm giving him the start over SR(RS) Walter Mullins. Mullins is 90 OVR and Coley is 86 OVR. I expect great things from Coley though. This will shore up our special teams a bit having Mullins play on special teams. Finally, QB Jesse Russ is back for his JR(RS) season after he went to #2 on Alabama's all-time passing yardage list behind Eric Gilbert's 3731 yards in 2009.

Connecticut has a C offense, a C+ defense, and is C+ overall. #1 Alabama is A+ across the board. This is a return game from last year when we beat the Huskies 84-0. I expect about a 56-10 game this year. We'll see. MLB Derek Lamb's GPA is dangerously close to dropping below the NCAA minimum requirement. He's going to sit out 2 games. Weather: Clear.

QB Jesse Russ throws a 15 yard TD pass to WR Marcus Babineaux, 7-0 Bama. ROLB Pete Coley picks off a HB pass to the QB and returns it 12 yards for the score, 14-0.

QB Russ finds WR Babineaux again on an 18 yard TD pass, 21-0. UCONN gets a 13 yard TD run by QB Cox, 21-7. HB Jonas Barnes breaks free on a 51 yard TD run, 28-7. K Tim Ford hits a 29 yarder late in the first half, 31-7.

QB Russ throws a screen pass to HB Nick Brown and he takes it 52 yards for the score, 38-7. After CB Mike Manning blocks a Huskies punt, he scoops up the ball and goes 31 yards for a TD, 45-7. ROLB Coley tackles the Husky ball carrier in the endzone for a safety, 47-7. QB Joe Carter options around the right side to find no defenders there and he doesn't stop until he's gone 65 yards for the score, 54-7.

PR Marco Herring returns a punt 61 yards for a TD, 61-7. QB Carter options his way into the endzone for the second time and this 37 yard TD run finishes off the Huskies.

Our defense did not play that great in this game. ROLB Pete Coley is the real deal. He's going to be a great one. PR/KR/CB Marco Herring is going to be good too. He did very well on returns. QB Jesse Russ threw 3 picks and that is bothersome. I think he's still adjusting to his new WRs. It looks like WR Marcus Babineaux might be his new favorite target. We're going to have to play a lot better than this if we're going to beat Oklahoma next week. We had 9 dropped passes officially in the game. The one credited to our O-lineman was a screen pass. I'm not sure which one was credited to QB Jesse Russ. Maybe on the HB screen pass to HB Nick Brown where Russ couldn't get the ball off in time and it went incomplete. You know you didn't play well when your backup QB is leading your team in rushing. In injury news WR Kevin Kerr was injured and missed the rest of the game. Also, CB Rodney Bryant was injured and will miss 6 weeks.
