All Quiet in Week 6

No news has been reported this week.

Gearing up for conference play.

The game started with the Blazers getting the ball. We came out and held strong on D, stopping them...or so we thought. They ran a fake punt on 4th and 7 shocking everyone. We were still able to hold them after regaining our bearings. Luckily for them they were close enough to kick. Blazers took the lead 3-0. We ran the ball terrible today, this time(as well as many more) causing us to punt. We traded the ball back and forth with UAB for awhile until they kicked another field goal(which we almost blocked). We decided to pass some more, considering Max didn't miss a throw all day. This caused us to score on a 72 yard pass to Jayson Foster. 7-6 Eagles. The Blazers took the field and blazed(hehe)down field to give themselves one more field goal(which again we almost blcoked) before the half putting themselves up 9-7.
We've stayed in the game up until now, lets pull ahead. Or not. We took the ball after the break and moved well. As Max was running the option, disaster stuck. Chris Covington took Max's pitch and decided it would be fun to spike it as soon as he was hit. Well, it wasn't. The ball hit once before UAB's SS Felder(who btw, was their player of the game) grabbed it out of the air and sprinted 42 yards for the score. 16-7 Blazers. We traded the football back and forth for awhile. Late in the third UAB broke our backs with a 31 yard pass from Williams to Drinkard. We never catch up again. The Blazers knock Max out of the game at the beginning of the third. He finished 7 of 7. I should have threw more, I didn't realize It was that low until recording the stats. Drat, as dshban would say. UAB scored more but, honestly I don't feel like going into it. One note, poor Chris Rogers went into the game at QB after Standford got hurt. Well, his one pass was dropped in the endzone by Chris Covington. So he went from getting to have a 372.0 QB% to a 0.0 QB%, poor kid. Oh well, no C-USA title for me this year(not that I thought I'd win it anyway). One positive not was Jayson Foster, who had a great day(go look at his stats), returned a kickoff 103 yards for a TD setting the new NCAA record. Good for him. Phillip Edwards still sucks. I-AA Appy Stat next week.
