2012 Week 7

On The Schedule: Brown W 31-24

All Quiet in Week 7

Weekly Report Posted: April 28, 2024 18:06

No news has been reported this week.

IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN...
FS Roger Noble intercepted a pass inside the twenty to keep Brown from going up by ten points early in the 4th, and the offense came right out and zipped down the field to take the lead. The defense held firm and Brown never came close to getting the lead back.

GAME BALLS
HB Melvin Hawkins continues to play great ball for us, picking up 240 yards and 2 touchdowns on only 20 carries. This kid is something special. ... QB John Powell also came up big despite our leaning away from the pass for most of the day. He threw two touchdowns in the final quarter of play, leading the comeback effort. ... Nick Stanley and Roger Noble each picked off passes in the redzone, robbing Brown of valuable points.

KEY STATISTICS
We went into the redzone 4 times, scoring 3 touchdowns and settling for one field goal. Brown went in 4 times, and they only came away with 1 TD and 1 FG. That was the difference, the interceptions they threw inside the twenty.

NOTES
In a match-up of teams with a 2-0 record in the conference, this was a big game to win. We stay at the top, and Brown falls down a notch. ... HB Melvin Hawkins is having an amazing year ever since his miserable performance in Week 1. He now has 967 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns through only seven games. He needs about 400 yards and 4 TDs to set new single-season school records.
