Wildcats Squeak by Hoosiers

In the 1.5 games since Andrew Brewer was benched in favor of Mike Kafka, the Northwestern Wildcats offense has shined. They have scored 36 points in those 6 quarters, 21 coming on Mike Kafka Touchdown Passes. Mike has also thrown 3 Touchdown's to 1 Interception, making Brewer's 5:17 ratio look like a Pop Warner player.

But still, with the offense clicking, the Wildcats needed some fourth quarter points to beat the 3-4 (2-2 in Conference) Indiana Hoosiers.

When Stephen Simmons went down on his first rush attempt, highly-touted Freshman recruit Erik Humphrey saw that it was his time to shine. Over the game, Humphrey carried the ball 26 times, and gained 80 yards in his first game as being the feature back. He also had 3 receptions for 37 yards and a Touchdown. Simmons should return for next week's game against the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The defense played well, forcing 3 turnovers and only allowing 1 Touchdown to the Indiana offense. Brad Phillips added 2 more interceptions, increasing his school record, which is now set at 11 picks.

Stefan Demos converted 4-of-4 field goals, 3 of which were inside of the 30 yard line. Steven Anderson also had 2 punts inside of the Hoosier's 20 yard line.
