Back to Normal

It had been 2 games since Stephen Simmons went over the 100-yard mark. Andrew Brewer was also coming off of a 6-for-13 day passing against the Ohio St. Buckeyes, a game in which the Wildcats some won due to their defense's 3 TD's. Following that victory, the Wildcats entered their contest against the Golden Gophers from Minnesota ranked #25, the first time they have been ranked in the regular season in Coach Andrew Taylor's tenure.

"It was a great feeling to beat the Buckeyes, especially since I used to coach at Michigan. And right now, we are reaping the rewards for pulling off that kind of an upset. But we've still got lots of work ahead of us," said Coach Taylor earlier this week.

The Wildcats took care of their work this week, soundly defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and increasing their record to 5-2 (2-1 in the Big Ten). Aside from Stephen Simmons returning to normal, Andrew Brewer had his first game without an interception of the year, and Brad Phillips tied the single-season Interception record, which was set last year by Eric Peterman, with 8 interceptions.

With their #1 wide receiver (Sidney Stewart) still nursing his injury, the Wildcats have gotten solid production from Redshirt-Freshman Isaac Floyd, and Junior Carl Fisher and True-Freshman Theo Hall have increased their playing level.

The Wildcats look to extend their winning streak to 3 straight, when the Penn State Nittany Lions visit Evansville next Saturday.
