Thank God for a Running Game
Who would have thought that the Northwestern Wildcats would have a 2-1 record when their starting Quarterback's TD:INT ratio is 0:6? What about a team that has 8 field goals, and only 6 total touchdowns (5 offensive) through three games?
I guess that's the fun of college football.
Andrew Brewer, the starting Quarterback for the 2009 Northwestern Wildcats, the owner of a 90 overall rating, and a perfect quarterback for the spread offense, is the proud owner of 6 interceptions to 0 touchdowns. The Crimson Tide had 2 interceptions returned for touchdown's on Saturday, keeping them in the game longer than they should have.
I guess that's why Stephen Simmons averages 20 carries a game, and the rushing game as a unit averages just over 30 carries a game. Simmons is currently on pace to break the single-season dynasty record for rushing yards, currently held by Tyrell Sutton with 1169 yards, by almost 200 yards.
With games against ranked schools in Notre Dame, Ohio St., and Penn St. in the next 5 weeks, Brewer will have to step up his play if he hopes to keep his starting job over Senior Mike Kafka and Junior Jamaal Richardson.
Stefan Demos was the player of the game for the Wildcats as he added 3 more field goals to his total.
