Who Needs a Doctor?
It's only week 2, and the Northwestern Wildcats already have more injuries than they can afford.
In addition to their 29-10 defeat at the hands of the Oregon Ducks, #1 Wide Receiver Sidney Stewart and nickel Cornerback Lance Jones both sustained injuries, lasting 8 and 6 weeks respectively.
The defeat to the Oregon Ducks could not all be attributed to injuries, as the Wildcat offense couldn't get anything going the entire game. Stephen Simmons only had 46 yards on 13 carries, and Andrew Brewer threw 2 more interceptions. Brewer hasn't recorded a Touchdown pass since the 2007 Illinois-Northwestern Rivalry game.
All-American Place Kicker Stefan Demos went 1-for-2 on Field Goals, converting a 28 yarder, while missing short on a 54 yard attempt.
"We just played poorly in all aspects of the game. We lost the turnover battle 4-0, lost in offensive production, and lost on defense. When you lose those 3 parts of a football game, you'd need to be the New England Patriots to somehow pull out a victory...and even they would have a hard time with it," said Coach Taylor.
The Crimson Tide of Alabama travel to Evanston in a rematch of last year's opening game for the Wildcats.
