BCS Bound - WVU too much for Cats
CINCINNATI - West Virginia used four 4th quarter touchdowns to pull away and put away a fiesty Cincinnati team 52-31 Saturday in the Queen City. WVU used touchdowns from both it's offense and defense and if that wasn't enough, the WVU special teams got involved too.
Senior Mark Rodgers scored on two very long plays to highlight things for the Mountaineers. Rodgers scored on a 100 kick off return midway through the 3rd quarter and then added a 96 scamper as the game was winding down and WVU was basically running out the clock.
Defensively the Mountaineers were led by Sydney Glover and Najae Goode. The two seniors combined for 22 tackles on the day.
The victory gave West Virginia a perfect 7-0 record in Big East play and assured itself a trip to the BCS.
WVU will close out the 2011 season at home on the 26th as they host Marshall in the Friends of Coal Bowl.
