Eers steal win from Bulls
Sydney Glover returned an interception 41 yards and a score with under 5 minutes remaining in the game to lead West Virginia over South Florida 24-14 Saturday. The Mountaineers Dave Akindona sealed the win with less than a minute to play when he hit a 47 yard field goal to put the Eers up by 10.
Geno Smith led the Mountaineers on 30 of 38 passing and 262 yards on the day. The junior quarterback threw for one score but also had two interceptions on the day.
The Eer defense was led by a pair of cornerbacks. Keith Tandy recorded 4 stops and an interception. He was joined by Morgantown native Sheldon Pitt's 4 stops on the day.
WVU returns to action next week as they host rival Louisville.
