Shawne Alston rushed for 109 yards and Geno Smith threw for 221 more and two touchdowns as West Virginia routed Maryland Saturday in College Park, 37-13. Kicker Dave Akindona added three field goals for WVU and the Mountaineer defense took care of the rest.

Senior safety Robert Sands had two interceptions on the evening including one he returned 78 yards for a third quarter touchdown. Sands also led all defenders with seven tackles on the night. Strong safety Sidney Glover added 5 stops including one for loss.
