Orange Bowl Champs - Smith's second half passing leads Eers over Hurricanes
MIAMI - For a half, it looked like another loss in the Orange Bowl was inevitable for the West Virginia Mountaineers. But Geno Smith and the Eers were not going to let that happen. Smith threw three second half touchdowns as WVU overcame a 20-6 halftime deficite to defeat Miami on their own field.
As the Hurricanes continued to stuff the Mountaineer ground attack, the Eers were forced to the air. By the end of the night, Smith had attempted 44 passes, completing 29 for there scores and 360 yards.
Once again Senior safety Sydney Glover led the way for the Mountaineer defense, recording 10 tackles on the night.
This win marked West Virginia's third BCS bowl win since 2005.
