Mountaineers sink Navy 31-7
West Virginia overcame three turnovers to defeat Navy 31-7 Saturday afternoon at Mountaineer Field. Shawne Alston and Tavon Austin together rushed for 108 yards on just 20 carries and one TD each as WVU improved to 3-1.
With starting quarterback Geno Smith struggling to a 13 for 17 day with the three picks, back-up Coley White took advantage in leading the Eers to three second half scores. White finished his day 6 for 8 for 63 yards and one score.
WVU will begin Big East play with a trip to Rutgers next Saturday. It will be the first of three road games for the young Mountaineers.
