Dominating defense leads Eers over Herd
MORGANTOWN - West Virginia limited Marshall to just 149 yards of total offense in route to a 27-7 win in the Friends of Coal Bowl.
Running back Shawne Alston rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Mountaineer ground attack which ammassed 228 yards on the night. Geno Smith completed 21 of 30 passes for 171 yards, but was once again plagued by interceptions, throwing two on the evening.
Junior Linebacker Donovon Miles recorded 5 tackles to go along with two interceptions on the night. The Mountaineer defense held MU to 0-8 conversions on third down and just 30 yards rushing on the night.
