Defenses shine, Wyoming wins defensive struggle
After a 66 yd interception return to tie the game at 10, the Virginia Cavaliers (0-1) picked off their 5th pass of the game and drove the ball to the Wyoming 2 yard line before being held to a 19 yd field goal attempt to take the lead with just under three minutes remaining in the game. On the attempt, Junior LB Ward Dobbs broke through the center of the line and blocked the field goal attempt.
Senior QB Jacob Doss, filling in for the injured Karsten Sween took the Cowboys (1-0) from their own 12 yard line and engineered an 8 play 2:42 drive to give Senior K/P Billy Vinnedge a chance to kick the game winning field goal giving Wyoming the victory 13-10.
JR HB Wynel Seldon had 111 yards on 9 carries, the big one being a 91 yard TD scamper in the first to give the Cowboys a 10-0 lead. JR Kyle Jacobo led the recieving corps with 90 yards on 3 catches, and SR MLB Luke Chase led the defense, which allowed only 192 total yards on the day, only 33 through the air, with 5 tackles, one for a loss, and one interception.
