Wyoming loses first game of year

"Well, anytime your starting QB throws 13 interceptions in 2 games, you need to look into whether or not he needs to be the starter."

Those were the words from Coach T after his Wyoming (7-1) teams first loss of the 2007 campaign. Final score UNLV 35, Wyoming 21. Starting QB Karsten Sween, who leads the nation in interceptions thrown this season, threw 7 more interceptions in the game against UNLV (4-5) which raises the question 'Why is Sween still the QB?'

Throughout the entire game the offense looked lost, time and time again being unable to convert on 3rd or 4th downs. The defense, although they did give up three touchdowns of their own, tried to keep the Cowboys in the game by intercepting 3 passes, two of which were returned for touchdowns. However, when the Cowboys had tied the game at 21, Sween threw interceptions on back to back drives in the 4th quarter, both of which were taken back for touchdowns, to help UNLV ice the game.

"We're going to take a good hard look at all of our quarterbacks this week in practice, and might even think about moving some players into the position if we aren't satisfied. I will say this, you will not see another performance like this out of another Wyoming team. We will not just lay down and let ourselves get run over again. The toughness was not there tonight, and the coaching staff and myself will take care of that problem this week in practice."
