Big 2nd Quarter Leads to Demise of Hogs

Arkansas (1-2) has a B- offense, a B defense, and is B overall. They are #82 in pts/gm, #82 in total offense, and #67 in total defense. #1 Alabama (3-0) has an A offense, an A+ defense, and is A+ overall. We are #1 in everything except pass offense (50th), rush defense (3rd), & turnover diff (34th). ROLB Greg Simmons failed to come up with the necessary paperwork to explain the constant absences from his study group. Therefore, he will sitout 2 quarters of this game. Weather: Clear.

K Jason Smith knocks home a 42 yarder to make it 3-0 Crimson Tide early in the first quarter. QB George Gray throws an 81 yard TD pass to WR A.J. Hines, 10-0.

QB Gray throws a 68 yard TD pass to WR Mark McCollum, 17-0. K Smith boots in a 33 yard FG, 20-0. HB Michael Gibbs scores from 25 yards out, 27-0. CB Thomas Ferguson blocks an Arkansas punt, recovers the ball, and takes it 34 yards to the house for the score, 34-0. This was just one of three blocks he had in the game. K Smith blasts a 49 yard FG just before halftime, 37-0 Tide.

We exploded in the second quarter to put this one away. Arkansas gained some good rushing yardage against, but that was it. CB Thomas Ferguson was huge as he blocked 3 Arkansas punts and returned one for a TD.
