Bama Survives Hogs in Rain and Cold in Fayetteville

#1 Alabama (3-0) is A+ across the board. We are #1 in pts/gm, #32 in total offense, and #1 in total defense. #2 Arkansas (3-0) has a B+ offense, an A- defense, and is A overall. They are #3 in pts/gm, #8 in total offense, and #8 in total defense. We go into this game with an 82 game win streak. Can this win streak hold up in Fayetteville? Weather: Rainy and cold with wind up to 11 mph. This is perfect weather for the Hogs. I don't like this already. We take the wind for the fourth quarter.

K Dennis Larkins hits a 46 yard FG after our first drive stalls out, 3-0 Bama with 1:31 to go in the first.

ARK K Jamison boots a 34 yard FG after PR Zach Tyler fumbled on the punt return in as many tries, 3-3 with :05 gone in the second. ARK HB Johnson goes left, shrugs off RE John Terrell, evades the diving attempt from behind by LE Mark Grier, our safety takes a bad angle on his diving tackle, and he's gone 89 yards for the score. TD Razorbacks, 10-3 Hogs with 1:40 left in the first half. Uh oh! Arkansas gets a little too aggressive on our next series and QB Rob Sims catches the Hogs in a massive blitz with man-to-man coverage. He goes long for WR Ian Edmonds and Edmonds comes up with the ball and races 79 yards for the score. TD ALABAMA!!! 10-10 after the extra point.

On our first drive of the second half, we catch Arkansas coming on another blitz. This time we get the blitz blocked and QB Sims throws a short out to WR Joe Tyler. Tyler makes the grab, spins by the corner laying on the ground, and he's gone 48 yards for the score. 17-10 Bama with 4:37 left in the third quarter.

On the opening play of the fourth quarter, we lineup in shotgun tight formation. QB Sims hands off to HB Nick Brown on an off-tackle play and he's gone 10 yards for the score, 24-10 Bama. Arkansas finally gets a drive going late in the game, but the Bama defense holds them out of the endzone and time expires.

This game was much closer than the final score. However, the stats don't really show that. We had 4 fumbles and lost 2. That really killed us. We could move decently up and down the field, but then we'd fumble or get a play for negative yardage and that would put us in a difficult situation. Our run blocking wasn't great except for a few plays. Our defense was tremendous except for the long TD run. I wouldn't bet against that we'll see Arkansas again before this season is out.
