IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN
Toledo had the ball halfway through the 4th quarter, down by 13, and they turned it over on downs. A TD would've brought the score to 20-14. Instead, we shut them down on four straight passing plays to basically end all hopes of a comeback. Of course, we later iced it with a FG and a TD, but that was really when we sealed the deal.

GAME BALLS
QB D.J. McPhearson followed up his first ever game without an interception by coming out and doing it again. That makes two straight responsible games by McPhearson, whose ball protection was always his biggest liability. ... HB David Taylor didn't have great numbers, but he ate up the clock. And with our sporadic blocking, he really had to earn his yards. He got 63 yards on 27 carries, and all but 10 of those yards came after contact. He really fought for his numbers. ... SS Antwain Young came up big with a sack, an INT, and a defensive TD.

KEY STATISTICS
We took the air out of the ball, limiting Toledo to only 9:03 time of possession. ... We held them on 4th down attempts twice, too.

NOTES
David Taylor's 27 carries are the 2nd most I've ever given a player in one game. Charles Baakel has the record with 32 rushing attempts against Navy in 2007. ... Speaking of Taylor, with 53 yards after contact this game, he now holds 3 of our Top 10 best single-game totals for yards after the 1st hit. One of those 3 performances came back when he was a fullback, though. ... Casey Gipson's 3 Fgs are the most we've ever had in a single game.
