All Quiet in Week 2

IT WAS A DONE DEAL WHEN
Temple was down 14-0 and promptly fumbled the ball away to us on their opening play of the next series. If they'd put together a scoring drive, they could've stopped the bleeding and gotten right back into the game. Instead, we punched it in for a 21 point lead. They managed a couple takeaways on defense when our ball-carriers got careless later on, but they never really made a game of it.
GAME BALLS
Junior halfback David Taylor picked up 169 yards on 26 carries. Our run-blockers were in some kind of zone all day long. ... Backup halfback Demetrius Gadson chipped in 77 yards (including a 40 yard TD burst) on only 3 carries. ... It can't go unmentioned that D.J. McPhearson avoided throwing any interceptions. Granted, he only threw 13 passes as we had an early lead and our rushing attack was cooking. But, amazingly, it is the first game in his career that he didn't throw at least one interception.
KEY STATISTICS
Temple didn't convert on a single 3rd or 4th down. ... We scored points every time we ventured into the redzone (2 TDs and 1 FG). ... We controlled the game, holding onto the ball for 19:29, thanks mainly to our ground game that went for 33 runs for 322 yards.
NOTES
David Taylor's 168 rushing yards rank 5th in our single-game best running performances. ... Freshman kicker Casey Gipson hit a 38 yard FG for his first successful FG in his career. It was the 3rd longest FG we've ever hit. ... Sophomore TE Curtis Stanley caught the 8th TD catch of his career. He's only 4 TDs behind WR Alec Math on our career leader list.
