Perfect Ending

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Perhaps this was the perfect way to end the 2007 campaign for the Idaho Vandals (8-5 6-2 WAC). It was an year of up and downs. A horrendous 1-4 start for the new coach had nobody believing. And then, just as all hope was lost, something sparked and the resurgent Vandals won 5 straight, gaining bowl eligibility. And just as the Vandals were on the brink of invincibility, they blew a 14 point lead in a bid to upset rival Boise State. So it only seemed fitting that Idaho's season would end with a similar game against Kentucky (7-6 3-5 SEC).

Unfortunately for Wildcat fans, this time Coach Ghettoshark wasn't about to collapse. He knew how long Vandal fans had been waiting for a bowl game. He knew just how much this meant not only for the city of Moscow, or the state of Idaho, but to underdogs everywhere.

After all, this was the story of the first year coach with no experience taking over the #116 ranked team in the country. He was supposed to fail. But instead, he compiled the school's first winning record in nearly a decade and made a few talented recruits believe in him.

Ghettoshark knew that if his team let Kentucky hang in, their high powered offense would tear the Vandal defense apart. So right out of the gates, his team marched down the field to take a commanding 10-0 lead in the first.
