The game looked like it was going to be an easy victory for UNI but Auburn wasn't about to go out that easy especially at their own stadium.
Auburn started the game with the lead in the first quarter 3-0 but then wouldn't get the score tied until the fourth quarter. UNI had an 18 point lead at one point in the second quarter until Auburn's Landry caught a 28-yard pass from Spicer to put the game back in reach for Auburn and only be down 11 points going into halftime. UNI would score only once with a field goal in the third quarter to give the Panthers a 14-point lead but then would give up a touchdown in the third and fourth quarters to Auburn to get the game tied. The Panthers got a defensive stop in the fourth when it counted as UNI would drive down the field running as much clock and taking a time out with :02 left in the fourth to go for the game winning field goal. Kicker Jason Johnson kicked a 29 yard field goal with time expiring to give the Panthers their first conference win of the season and to extend their winning streak to 13 wins.
