UNI Finishes Strong

With the victory in Ames, IA over the Iowa State Cyclones, UNI has matched their last season's overall record at 11-1.
The Cyclones proved to be fierce and stayed with the Panthers the entire game. Iowa State took the early lead in the first by a 50 yard pass to lead 7-0. UNI came back two minutes later with a run by their leading rusher Steve Jackson to tie the game up. The Panthers then took a touchdown lead with a rushing touchdown by their fullback John Patton. The Cyclones would tie up the game just before the first half ended with a 71 yard run. That would be the last time the Cyclones would tie it up. UNI scored halfway into the third quarter with a 16-yard pass from QB Leonard Robertson to freshman WR Chris Peterson. Peterson would have an outstanding day with 196 receiving yards and two touchdowns. UNI put the Cyclones away with a rushing touchdown at the end of the third quarter by halfback Steve Jackson.
UNI beats the Cyclones 28-14.
UNI is off next week and will await the announcement/invitation to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta, Georgia.
