Stanford kept the win streak going this week as the beat the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame 40-34 in OT. Stanford looked out of it early in the game but fought back in the 4th quarter and scored the only points of OT for the win.

On ND's first drive Clausen found an open receiver for a TD. After a Forcier interception, Clausen found Aldridge in the endzone for another TD. Stanford was down 14-0 after the 1st quarter.

Stanford got the 2nd quarter scoring started with a 1 yard run by Kimble, but Notre Dame answer right back with an 11 yard Aldridge run making it 21-7 ND. Forcier lead Stanford on another scoring drive in the 2nd, finding Fleener in the endzone on a crossing route. Notre Dame would add a field goal and an interception returned for a TD late in the 2nd quarter to make the lead 31-14 at the half.

Whatever coach had to say at halftime must have worked because ND only managed a field goal in the 3rd quarter. Forcier found fullback Marecic for a TD but Zygory missed to XP. Score after 3 34-20 ND.

The 4th quarter was exciting and Forcier found Rance for his 3rd passing TD of the game. After and ND punt Stanford was driving for the game tieing TD late in the 4th. Faced with a 4th and 4 from the 30 needing a TD to tie, Coach called 2 slant routes. No one was open but A. Kimble slipped into the flat and Forcier hit him for an 11 yard gain and a 1st down. Kimble would punch it in from 2 yards out to tie the game at 34-34.

Overtime started and ND had the ball first. Stanford sacked Clausen on first down. Second down was a 5 yard run up the middle. Faced with a 3rd and 8 Clausen tried to hit the TE over the middle but the ROLB grabbed it to end the 1st half of OT. Stanford drove to the 1 on there OT possesion and instead of kicking the field goal coach went for the TD. Kimble punched it in from a yard out sealing the win.

Many recruits watched this win vs rival Notre Dame. We will have to see if any of them came away impressed.
