2008 Week 1

Yesterday the Stanford Cardinal lost a heartbreaker to the Oregon State Beavers yesterday, 31 - 28. Kimble did rush for over 100 yards and a 2 scores but Forcier threw 3 picks and couldn't lead the down the field in the final minutes of the game to score.

Late in the first quarter the scoring got started as Stanford got a pick six from middle linebacker "". On the insueing kickoff Oregon State ran it back for a touchdown to tie the game at 7.

In the second quarter Oregon State took advantage on Forcier's first int and took a 14-7 lead. Stanford would answer right back on a 3rd and 9 from the Beavers 35. Forcier hit "" on a WR Screen for a 35 yard touchdown to tie the game at 14. The Beavers took the next kickoff to around the fifty yard line and on a 3rd and 5 "" had a 44 yard TD run for a 21-14 Beaver lead. Stanford answer once again in the second quarter after a 10 plus play drive was cashed in when Kimble went over the top for a TD to tie it at 21 at the half.

Stanford got the ball to start the second half and disaster struck as a ball went threw the finger tips of a WR and Oregon State picked it and took it to the house for a 28-21 lead. Kimble would score again after another long drive to tie the game at 28 entering the 4th quarter.

Oregon State would get a fieldgoal to take a 31-28 lead with 3 minutes in the 4th quarter. Bu t on the insueing Cardinal drive Forcier threw his 3rd pick. The defense held though and the cardinal got the ball back with 50 seconds to go and 70 yards to the endzone. Forcier lead them to the 40 yard line but the hail mary pass fell short. Next up for Stanford is another conference game against Arizona State. Hopefully they can knock off a top 15 team.
