ISU upsets Air Force!!!

ISU took the trip to Colorado Springs to face Air Force, who runs a similar offense to Navy, who beat ISU 69-0. But ISU proved they had learned from that defeat, holding AF to a punt on their opening drive. ISU then drove down the field and scored on a 14 yard run from Josh Barnett, in his first game back from injury. Air Force couldn't get anything going on their next drive either, and punted again, making the score at the end of the first quarter 7-0 in favor of the Bengals.

ISU capitalized on the drive they started in the 1st quarter by kicking a 33 yard FG off the foot of Tony Houston to extend the lead to 10. AF got some offense going on the next drive, but were stopped just past midfield, where they faked a punt and were stopped short of the 1st down marker. ISU would put points on the board again, scoring on a 2 yard run from Barnett, and ISU would have a 17-0 lead! But the ISU defense gave up the big play, that has hurt them all year, giving up a 51 yard pass from Carney to WR#7 with 40 seconds left in the half. But Kendrick Bolen would lead his team back down the field quickly, and got then in field goal range for Houston to kick a 23 yarder to take it into halftime 20-7 ISU.

ISU would recieve the second half kickoff, and SO Scott Davis would take it and run it back 90 yards for a TD to extend the lead to 27-7. But Air Force wasn't about to give up, and they drove down the field, pounding it in with Smith from 3 yards out to close the gap to 13 again. That didn't last, as ISU ran back down the field, scoring on a 5 yard pass from Bolen to Dane Simmons. AF would finish off this fast paced offensive quarter with a 68 yard run from Newell to make the score going into the 4th quarter 34-21 ISU.

ISU would be forced to punt to start the 4th quarter, and AF would drive down the field methodically once again, with Carney finishing off the drive with an 8 yard run, but DE Ivin Clark would step up and block the extra point, making it a 7 point game, 34-27. ISU would resort to their power I, with FB Keith Lohse lined up behind DT Anthony Clarke, to try to run out the clock. But on Lohse's 3rd carry, he fumbled, and the Falcons recovered, giving them a chance to tie it up. And they would capitalize on that chance with a minute 20 seconds left, on a Carney to WR#7 pass from 12 yards out. But Bolen would lead his offense down the field again in that 1:20, getting them to the 36 yard line with 2 seconds left...

"Bolen drops back to pass, has to roll to his right a bit. Throws a lob to the endzone, Pino is there, he leaps... TOUCHDOWN!!!! BENGALS WIN!! BENGALS WIN!!"
