All Quiet in Week 9

Weekly Report Posted: May 14, 2024 17:22

No news has been reported this week.

ND pulls away early, ISU saves some embarassment.

ISU made the trip to South Bend to face the Fighting Irish on National Television. It seemed like the Freshmen in the secondary were a bit nervous or skiddish due to this, and ND was able to capitalize, taking them deep for a 57 yard TD pass. ISU went 3 and out on their next possesion, and Wolke found Hord for another TD, this one only 8 yards. ISU would have to punt again, but CB Brad Winston stepped up and made a pick, which led to ISU doing... nothing. They would punt again, but Al Miranda would force a fumble on the return, and Craig Holling would recover for ISU. Kendrick Bolen proceeded to be sacked twice, and Tony Houston didn't have enough distance on his 47 yard FG try, ending the first quarter with a 14-0 score for ND.

The second quarter was very simple to keep track of. Notre Dame had the ball 3 times. They scored 3 times. ISU had the ball 3 times. They punted twice, and halftime ended the other drive. Halftime score 35-0 ND.

ISU's defense would come out of its trance in the second half, forcing ND to punt, but the offense again punted it back, and again Miranda forced a fumble, this time Willie Pino falling on it for ISU. This led to a Tony Houston 18 yard FG, getting ISU on the board going into the 4th quarter with a 35-3 score.

ISU would put 10 points on the board in the 4th, with Kenyon Blue scoring on an option from 11 out, and Houston kicking it through from 25. The D shut out ND's offense in the second half. Final score: 35-13 ND
