Terps Survive Thriller in Clemson, 29-27

CLEMSON, SC - It was an uphill battle, but the Maryland Terrapins continued the long road of turning their season around with a huge win at Clemson. The win means that every ACC Atlantic team has 2 or more ACC losses, meaning Maryland can win out to play for the ACC Championship.

Clemson took a 14-3 lead early in the 2nd, but Maryland responded by scoring the final 20 points of the quarter. Clemson re-captured the lead with seconds to go in third on a 36 yard field goal to make the score 24-23 Clemson. But on the first play of the 4th quarter, Terp HB Tony Ortiz ran straight up the middle untouched for a 67 yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion was no good and the Terps were up 5, 29-24. Clemson managed a field goal midway through the 4th, but the final 2 minutes were run out by the Maryland ground game.

Maryland returns home for a non-conference game with Kentucky next week. Freshman QB Matt Thomas is expected to start the game.

NCAA: Can anyone handle the Sooners? #1 Oklahoma put a whoopin on #3 Texas in the Red River Shootout to extend their winning streak to 14 games.
