Back on Track: Terps Beat Wake, 38-30
COLLEGE PARK, MD - Maryland looked more like the team we saw in week 1 as they took care of business against Wake Forest. Junior HB Derrick Leslie had another outstanding game, running for 187 yards on 26 carries and 2 touchdowns. The big blow came at the end of the 1st half with Maryland leading 24-10. An errant pass fell into the arms of SS David Capps and it looked more like he was fielding a punt. Capps beat a Wake Forest running back down the sideline for a 64 yard INT return to make the score 31-10 Maryland at the break. Wake Forest did get within 7 at the end on the third, but the Maryland running game controlled the clock all day and the Terps cruised to victory.
Maryland's next two games are on the road, starting with #25 Virginia next week. Maryland beat their rival in triple overtime last season, so expect another classic rivalry game.
NCAA NOTES: Oklahoma invades The Horseshoe and wins! The Sooners beat the Buckeyes 26-21 to solidify (sort of) their #1 ranking. #7 Wisconsin upset #3 Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Virginia Tech came into the game ranked #1 in the Media Poll.
