2010 Week 12

CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Maryland's defense overwhelmed a Boston College team that had overachieved until this game. BC had a chance to get to 8 wins and 5-3 in the ACC after being picked to be the worst team in the Atlantic Division. Even with the loss, the Eagles have already clinched a bowl berth and earned a 4th place Atlantic finish.

Jeremy Ricker threw 2 touchdown passes and Derrick Leslie scored all 3 of Maryland's first half touchdowns. Leslie's performance shot him up to third on the current Heisman Watch list. Ricker seems to finally be coming into his own, albeit a little late. In his last two games, Ricker has thrown 4 TD passes to only one interception.

Maryland finishes out the regular season with a tough game against #16 Oklahoma State. The game is essentially a scrimmage for both teams, but pride will be a big factor in a bowl-like match-up of top 20 teams.

ACC NOTES: Virginia Tech and Maryland will meet for the ACC Championship for the 4th consecutive year. Maryland won in 2008 and 2009, with Virginia Tech pulling it out in 2007. NC State will finish 1-11 with a loss next week, with their only win coming at Maryland. When the win put their record at 1-1, the loss didn't seem as dramatic for the Terps. Now, it is a humiliating black mark on the 2010 season.

NCAA NOTES: West Virginia finished their season at a perfect 12-0, but will need with #1 Oklahoma to lose the Big 12 Championship Game or #2 UCLA to lose to either Arizona State or USC to sneak into the Championship Game. Despite having a loss, #4 Ohio State has the chance to jump West Virginia with a win at #10 Michigan.
