Terps Crush Hokies for 3rd Straight ACC Title
JACKSONVILLE FL - Could a 12-1 Virginia Tech team jump a 12-0 West Virginia Team in the BCS standings? We'll never know, because for the 3rd consecutive season, Maryland took Virginia Tech's National Title hopes and blew them apart. Maryland's Tony Logan took over the game early. He returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown and then intercepted a pass on the Hokies 2nd play from scrimmage, which led to another touchdown. After a second INT cost Virginia Tech another touchdown, putting Maryland up 21-0, the Hokies fired their only shot. A 41 yard touchdown run to cut the score to 21-7 gave the Hokies hope but was immediately erased by Logan. Logan took the ensuing kickoff and raced 95 yards for his second kick return TD in the 1st quarter. Maryland never looked back, cruising to a 59-7 victory.
The Terps will play #5 Iowa (11-1) in the Orange Bowl, marking their 3rd straight Orange Bowl appearance.
