Utah State's offense sputters without McCormick
With junior QB Jase McCormick suspended for undisclosed team reasons the offense of Utah State seemed to never show up. Diondre Borel proved to show some potential in the first half as he led the Aggie offense to two scores and a comfortable 14-3 lead at halftime.
Unfortunately for Aggie fans the second half was nothing near the first half. The offense managed to have multiple turnovers with one being returned for a touchdown and another being returned inside the 20 yard line. The defense seemed to hold the passing game of the Rebels in check but when you look at the rushing stats, the Rebels ran all over this Aggie's defense. The defense hard a very difficult time slowing down the rushing game giving up over 200 yards on the ground.
Despite an all around sub par effort from all aspects of the game the Aggies will roll into next week against 1-3 Idaho to kick off the beginning of the conference schedule. The Aggies need to make a turnaround to the season after losing 2 straight if they want to become bowl eligible.
After the game Coach McGriffLe had this to say, "What a disappointing second half. We played awesome in the first half but never got it going in the second half. Jase McCormick will be back this week at Quarterback. D. Borel did well but his is young. As for C. Erickson, he has a broken jaw and will be on the sidelines for atleast nine weeks. Idaho is next. We have to prepare."
