2008 Week 9

Utah State forgot one key thing in todays game. You must play 4 full quarters of football. The Aggies dominated the first 3 quarters of this game and had a commanding lead of 31-16.

The fourth quarter turned out to be the complete opposite. The Utes came out and scored a remarkable 18 points in the fourth to take a 34-31 lead. The Aggies had a chance to tie it up with a last second field goal and it was a mere wide left. The Aggies blew their lead and lost the game by 3.

After the game Coach McGriffLe had this to say, "Wow what a disappointment the end of that game was. First off we had plenty of chances to score in the final minute and just couldn't get it into the endzone and had to settle for a field goal. I want to take full responsibility for the missed field goal at the end. I called a bad play that put us at an awkward angle for a field goal. With 8 seconds to go and a timeout left I should have ran the ball to center it in the middle of the field, taken the timeout, and kicked the game tieing field goal from a much easier angle. Instead I got greedy and went for the win. I want to apologize to the players and fans for this stupid mistake. We WILL rebound from this."
