Winning ways continue
The Virginia Tech Hokies put another game in the win column yesterday with their win over the 2-3 North Carolina Tarheels, 31-3. With the win, Tech improved to 5-0, well on their way to a potential national championship berth.
The game versus the Tarheels was the first in-conference action VT saw this season, improving their conference record to 1-0. Running back Branden Ore propelled the Hokies to this record, racking up two more touchdowns on the ground.
"The [offensive] line opened up a lot of holes for me to run through," Ore said. "It was easy.
"We need to keep this up for when we get to our tougher conference opponents."
Through the air, quarterback Tyrod Taylor had a decent game, throwing for two touchdowns. He tossed an interception as well, which is a new experience for the true freshman, as he had yet to throw an interception in the four games prior.
Regardless, the phenom at quarterback looks to continue winning, hopefully leading to a national championship.
"All I'm trying to do is go out there and get a W in the win column," Taylor said. "I don't want to be the reason why our seniors leave this school without a national championship."
Hokies coach Justin Jett isn't buying the hype, though.
"We need to play every team like it's the national championship. If we do, things will fall into place," Jett said.
