Impressive first half gives Hokies the victory

Scoring 31 points in the first half alone, the Virginia Tech Hokies soared over the Boston College Eagles Thursday night 37-7. During the second half, head coach Justin Jett seemingly put the game in cruise control, tacking on two Jud Dunlevy field goals.

As is usually the case, VT was led by running back Branden Ore's 131-yard, two touchdown performance, capping his day off with a 65 yard sprint to the endzone.

"I don't think they even saw me out there," Ore said. "I saw the hole and I was gone."

The Hokies improved to 8-0 on the season overall, notching a fourth consecutive ACC win. The Hokies stood third in the BCS after their open week, but another quality win over a ranked opponent could give them the added strength to bump the Texas Longhorns off the seat.

"It would be nice to knock them off," Jett said. "But we're focused on beating Georgia Tech first. Then we'll talk."
