Pokes Prevail in OT
In what has become a rivalry over the last few seasons, Wyoming was able to defeat the Aztecs of San Diego State Saturday night in overtime by a score of 38-31. Two of the last three meetings between these two teams have resulted in an OT victory by Wyoming.
In a matchup of the nations 4th best passing offense against the nations top overall defense, both units were able to make plays. The Aztecs passed for 388 yards and garnered 464 total yards against the stiff Cowboys defense, but the defense made big plays when it needed to coming up with 6 turnovers including a huge interception by LB James Richardson in OT to seal the victory for the Pokes. With the win, Wyoming secures its second straight MWC championship.
Karsten Sween again played well in place of Leroy Williams who exited in the second quarter with a sprained ankle. He passed for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns including the game winner to Greg Bolling on the first play of OT. Ryan Williams added another tough 91 yards on the ground to aid in the victory. Next up for the Cowboys is the season finale against a pesky Air Force team.
