Huge 2nd quarter lifts Wyoming

Wyoming scored 31 points in the second quarter en route to a 56-7 thumping of MWC opponent New Mexico. While the offense was able to move the ball into the New Mexico side of the field, they had trouble punching it into the endzone. Problem? Aric Goodman didn't think so.

Goodman was 7-7 on field goals and converted from 45,35,46,41,29,26 and 30 yards and tied the record for most field goals made in one game.

On a sour note, QB Leroy Williams suffered a shoulder injury and could be sidelined for 2-4 weeks. Karsten Sween stepped in when Williams got hurt and threw for 109 yards and one TD. The rushing game, which has come of age in the last few games, was strong again today as the Pokes, led by FR Ryan Williams' 97 yards, totaled 212 yards on the ground.

Defensively, the nations #1 rushing defense added to their gaudy numbers as New Mexico totaled -45 yards rushing. The defense absolutely shut down the Lobos' offense allowing only 26 yards of offense. The lone Lobos score came on a kickoff return right before the half.
