In a record setting day on the gridiron, Sophomore Tom Merriman also helped lead the Wyoming Cowboys to a win over the Stanford Cardinal 38-24, and helped extend Wyoming's winning streak to 16 games.

Merriman was able to find the endzone a record 3 times on Saturday - two interception returns for touchdowns and one fumble return for a touchdown. On Stanford's first play of the ballgame, Merriman stepped in front of a pass intended for First Team Pac-10 TE Andrew Howard and outran Howard to the endzone to put the Pokes up 7-0. In the second quarter, QB Perry Hart dropped back to pass but was hit from his blindside by Wyoming's All-Time sack leader Mitch Unrein, and the ball popped out. Merriman was able to catch a good bounce and take it in for the score to give him his second defensive score of the game. Finally, as Stanford was driving to try for the game tying score, QB Hart was looking for HB Todd Holly on the screen pass. With great pressure from the D-line, Hart was forced to rush the pass and Merriman stepped in front of Holly and picked the ball off and never lost stride on the way to his third TD of the game, and 5th defensive TD of his career.

Other good performances were turned in by HB Darius Terry, getting his first start of his career. Terry averaged 7 yards per carry and finished with 92 yards on the day. SR Derrick McMahen turned in the best performance of his career finishing with 6 tackles 3 passes defensed, and his first career interception.

NOTEWORTHY:
FR Elliot Banks hauled in the first catch of his career on Saturday. It was a 52 yard completion in which he showed great ability in the open field. Banks is a highly touted 4 star recruit that Wyoming grabbed out of Rhode Island and saw action at both TE and DE against Stanford.
