Pokes' Streak goes to 17

This one was over from the opening kickoff.

SR Evan Weatherspoon, returning kicks because of the shoulder injury to Travis Burkhalter, took the opening kickoff, made one good move and was off to the races as he scampered 88 yards to the endzone and from there the Cowboys would not look back as they roll over their third straight Pac-10 opponent, this time Washington St., by a score of 49-10.

QB Leroy Williams finished 11-18 and 215 yards through the air with 3 TD passes and a 42 yard option keeper for a TD to lead Wyoming on offense. In all, 4 different receivers caught TD passes, a season high, and the air attack just couldn't be stopped.

"Man, I just had all day in that pocket tonight. You know, them boys up front, I just gotta hand it to 'em. Anyone could have a big game with the way our O-line played tonight," said Williams.

"Our guys flat out dominated in the trenches tonight on both sides of the ball. To hold a team with that caliber of an offense to 225 yards is pretty dang good. I'm pleased with how we played. We still had a couple big plays against us, but I liked the effort we showed tonight. Great win for our ballclub," added Coach T.

Defensively, the Cougars were held to only 10 yards on the ground, and fumbled three times. Also, the Cowboys defense never allowed the Cougar offense inside the red-zone. This defense is becoming one of the better run defenses in the nation and will face a stiff test next weekend in Seattle as they take on the Washington Huskies in the final out of conference game of the year.
