This thursday night game was the opening conference game for both the tigers and the terps. The tigers were coming off a resounding win vs army 77-0 and were looking to put doubters to rest about there questionable #7 ranking despite playing below average teams. Maryland was coming off a 45-14 loss vs hated foe West Virginia. The game started off slow as Maryland jumped out to a early 3-0 lead in the first. Suddenly clemson would own the 2nd quarter by scoring 2 touchdowns in the redzone. One of which by star tailback james davis on a 2 yard run. The Tigers were down with about 3 minitues to go in the 4th when tailback james davis perarded down the sideline for a 56 yard touchdown run. The Terripans had nothing in there tank to sustain a drive vs the tigers vaunted defense who was lead by Michael Hamlin who had 7tkls(tfl), sack and a interception from his saftey position. James Davis had 19carries for 174 yards and 3 touchdown. Davis is gathering touchdowns on a huge pase. Last season davis had 15. This year he already has 10 3 games into the season. It appears he has improved on reading the zone blocking system the tigers employ. Next up for the tigers is Boston College who beat them last season.
